In less than 3 years, social networking sites have unleashed a platform for fukkery that is slowly starting to spill over into real-life. I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been holding my breath because before it’s all over with one (or some of us) are going to know SOMEBODY on these here innanets that has literally gotten their ass beat because of some Ning!, Facebook or Twitter bullshyt.
Oh, it started innocently enough. Those of us in the blog world kinda sat back and watched with amusement. See, OUR community was used to the pitfalls of internet crushes. We…the Talented 10th of da Innanets….had ‘been there, done that’. We scoffed at the kiddies and their MySpace flirting…clutching our pearls at the thought of ‘regla Negroes’ all of a sudden having the ability to post their thoughts. How in the hell did ‘they’ become able to afford internet access (let alone a laptop/PC) anyway???? *snooty sniff* But then some crafty muh-fuggah created Ning! and it was on. Even the most seasoned of us became excited at the thought of having a Homecoming celebration without ever having to leave our living rooms.
We ‘friended’, ‘updated’, posted pics and even joined multiple sites (HS and college). And then we realized that we could compile ALLLLL of our bullshyt, skeletons and grand whodikkery in one place….FACEBOOK BYTCHES! Now, your bullshyt is on display for the entire world to see. Which is all well and good, because “it’s just the internet”, right?
Um no. Within the last few days, I’m seeing married people posting status message “Topics for The Day” about being unhappy in relationships/infidelity when EEEEEVVVERRRYbody knows that you’re talking about the SPOUSE THAT WE NEVER SEE YOU WITH. Or the chick, dating somebody’s husband talking about how “she loves her man”. Or (dammit the fukkery never ceases), two women who are ‘friends’ on Facebook unknowingly posting about the same dude. I…just…can’t….
