You Live, You Learn

words2liveby UPDATE: MY BAD! I forgot to turn the comments on! :-) Now lemme go watch the game. Go Falcons!
NOTE: I wrote this in September, but since we’re entering my birth month, I decided to repost.

I’ve been on this earth (in this particular incarnation) for 33 1/2 damn near 34 years now. I love waking up in the morning and wondering what LIFE has in store for me to learn. I always pray for WISDOM. So, while I still have ‘miles to go before I sleep’, here’s what I’ve learned during my sojourn …so far**.

  1. LIFE is a journey. Never stop traveling…but pack lightly.
  2. The people who you surround yourself with are a reflection of your consciousness. Want to change your experience? Change your inner circle.
  3. Your spirit has already asked the universe for every situation that you encounter – from the most exquisite, to the most horrendous. There is a lesson to be learned from it all. Sometimes you’re meant to be the teacher for someone else.
  4. Never take psyllium husks and a salt water flush at the same time. You will throw up a dyck.
  5. You can learn more about a person’s soul from looking into their eyes and observing their body language than you ever will by listening to their words.
  6. Knowing that you are LOVED makes you more beautiful than any beauty regimen. Stop spending all of your money on products and surround yourself with people who feed your spirit.
  7. It’s OK to be an ass once every blue moon. But accept that reality about yourself and other people. Get over it.
  8. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you have to be bosom buddies. It simply means that you developed the UNDERSTANDING that you have to release a person’s control over your emotions. That way you are BOTH free to move on to your higher good.
  9. Sometimes inappropriate shyt is just funny. Lighten the hell up.
  10. If you feel yourself falling (down a flight of stairs, in a crowd, in love) tuck and roll….and protect your head.
  11. It’s not important to sound like the most educated person in the group, but it is imperative that you speak so that other people can understand you. (um…imperative is another word for necessary…and necessary means you ‘gotta’, ya dig? :-) )
  12. Don’t shy away from being adventurous, but don’t neglect the beauty in the simple things.
  13. The truth hurts sometimes.
  14. It’s OK to hurt…deeply.
  15. Every emotion is a form of energy. Take your pain, absorb it and change it into a powerforce of positivity.
  16. Giggle, snort, laugh, chuckle, guffaw, CTFU, LOL, :-) , ROTFL <—– all good shyt
  17. Even if you can’t hold a note, sometimes it just feels good to sing at the top of your lungs. Put on a concert!
  18. Closing your eyes and bobbing your head to its internal rhythm is a form of meditation.
  19. Believe in soul mates, but focus more on becoming in tune with your own soul.
  20. Be scared of lions, tigers and bears.
  21. If it doesn’t feel right….ABORT MISSION!
  22. Keep some mystery about yourself, but appear to be an open book.
  23. SMILE! SMILE! SMILE!
  24. Hug old people and babies.
  25. Embrace your sexuality with lots (and lots and lots) of enthusiasm. Get to know your sexy. Don’t let anyone else define it for you.
  26. Swallow. ;)
  27. LIFE happens thru you, not to you.
  28. See THE DIVINITY in everything and everybody.
  29. Be comfortable enough in your own skin, to recognize when you’re UNcomfortable.
  30. You don’t always have to confront your adersaries head on. Kick it with them sometimes. You may learn something.
  31. Always allow yourself to be LOVED.
  32. Unconditional doesn’t have conditions. *penguin slap*
  33. Take spiritual, emotional, mental, professional, financial, and physical laxatives often…colonics even. ELIMINATE AND CONCENTRATE!!
  34. Sometimes in relationships, important things can get ‘lost in translation’ when people have different communication styles. But if you care, it’s important to learn to be ‘bi-lingual’.

  1. Dang! about TIME you opened up comments on this!! You know you didn’t forget! You just didn’t wanting me coming through and getting all bruh-codish on your #26! LOL

  2. Out of ALL of the useful gems I drop, you choose the one related to medicine??? I was CLEARLY referring to my childhood when Mama SoJo used to make me take my castor oil. SMDH! Lol!

So, what life lessons have you learned?

  3. LOL… I just had to give you hell for not having comments up since you are the Blogpatrol 2.0 and whatnot. LOL

I have learned not to be so hard on myself. I am my harshest critic, and that has affected my self-esteem as times. Now, I buy into my awesomness.

I have learned that kissing your SO should only lead to secks about 10% of the time instead of my young adult notion of 90%. LOL

    • HA! Somebody has to keep y’all in check. :)

For your #1, I’ve seen a lot of successful people say that about themselves. You may even buy into your awesomeness now (LEO!!), but still remain somewhat critical. Keeps you on your toes so that you don’t fall off like the old high school football captain that never took time to self-reflect.

As for your #2, I just saw a throwback 2005 TD frantically search for a Lil’ Jon emoticon to say, “WHAT??!?!!??!” LMAO!!!

  4. Ok… I definitely paused at #26 too! *gasp*
Must listen to my Big Sis’ words of wisdom. He he he.

I love love love #10 tho. “If you feel yourself falling (down a flight of stairs, in a crowd, in love) tuck and roll….and protect your head.”
