SELAH

“Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby…

Somewhere over the rainbow

Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true…”

Have you ever asked for a sign and then see something so beautiful that you can’t help but jump back because it’s so vivid that it can’t possibly be coincidence? That happened to me this evening.

I stumbled upon the most beautiful rainbow almost by happenstance. I wasn’t supposed to be outside at that time. In fact, I couldn’t even figure out why I decided to open the door and walk out. But I did. And I saw it.

It was so beautiful, so perfect. You could see each individual color of the spectrum perfectly. The arc shape was so precise. It was so bold and beautiful that I almost believed that there would be a pot of gold at the end of it. I quickly pulled my Blackberry out of my pocket and snapped two pics. And then I had a SELAH! moment. I paused. I prayed. I meditated. Briefly. Because I wanted to run and get my camera so that I could capture clearer photographs. My poor Blackberry didn’t do the beauty of its formation justice.

But when I turned around, the rainbow disappeared. Just as quickly as it came, it was gone. But not the memory. It remained. I smiled. I laughed. I thanked God for touching me and reassuring me in that moment…so very gently….right after I’d just asked for a sign from the universe…that I am exactly where I need to be. SELAH.
