Sistaspeak

My roommate, #23, gave me a handmade laminated poem on cardstock paper almost 15 years ago.  It had two little cut out girl figures with a pyramid in the middle.  It wasn’t for any special occasion.  She just felt like doing it.  To this day, it’s one of my most precious gifts.

JUST SISTERS

This is dedicated to sisters like you and me.  You have been my sister through the good times, through the sad and difficult times, through those times when I didn’t think that I could make it through.  And yes, you have been the sister to share all of my joy, my happiness and my success.  As sisters, we will spend a lifetime of giving to one another encouragement, support and love. Whether we are mothers and daughters, sisters, cousins or just friends, this is only a small reminder of our sisterly bond.  Whether near or far, past or present, we are sisters united by care and understanding and yes, we are just sisters, united by love.

I have been blessed to have so many diverse groups of sister friends.  Every time I think about some of the women that I have been connected to over the years, my mouth drops open and I shake my head in disbelief. The spiritual faculty that my church is practicing this month is STRENGTH and I have definitely found my outer and inner strength through the bonds that I have created with of all of the magnificent women that I am able to call my friends.

So, in the spirit of Sisterhood and Women’s History Month, I dedicate the rest of this month’s blog entries to all of my goddesses.  :-)
