Via Wise Diva @ AJC Blog: (Nightline Face-Off)

Now y’all know that I’m “off that” regarding “The State of the Black Union” (or lack thereof) also known as relationship issues/plight of the single black woman in 2010. The only person that I feel comfortable enough to be completely candid with about my feelings, relationship stuff, etc. is my male best friend. I will open up my discussions to maybe 1 or 2 of our other good friends later on this summer. It’s my way of filtering out the negativity and energy from ppl who aren’t directly impacting my growth regarding finding/keeping a mate.

Since I made that declaration at the end of 2009 and stopped engaging in those discussions, reading those articles and watching those specials – I’ve felt a sense of freedom. When I heard there was a panel discussion here a few weeks ago – I just cocked my left eye O_o (ESPECIALLY when I saw some of the panel guests *cough* Jimi Izrael *cough* …SMDH) and kept it moving.

BUT….I trust my homegirl, Wise Diva – and if she says that it was insightful and refreshing, then I’ll tune in. Will you be watching?

Not only was the debate taped locally in Decatur earlier this month, yours truly was there to witness it all! That’s right, people, the relationship revolution will be televised…tonight on ABC!

The debate moderators included author and radio host Steve Harvey and Nightline’s Vicki Mabrey. The lively and decidedly entertaining panelists included CSI star, Hill Harper, journalist/VH1 star Jacque Reid, Comedian and ‘The View’ panelist Sherri Shepherd and author Jimi Izrael. Atlanta’s own Dr. Tartt (and Misadventures in Atlanta guest blogger!) was featured as an audience guest panelist as well, as was soon to be published author, Helena Andrews. Andrews is the author of an upcoming novel that will touch on the successful black woman conundrum.

I gotta say that I’m with you on that Sojo. I wouldn’t have checked it out otherwise. Thanks for posting it. Now, I can have something to watch (since my Celtics aren’t playing tonight).

  3. Yep! Our Bulletproof Diva has been the Misadventures in Atlanta blogger for a few years now. :-)

oh dag. I’m now getting back into reading blogs and blogging again. So many people have gone and returned with new names. It’s hard to keep up. She’s definitely gonna be on my blogroll (when I stop being lazy and actually create it).

    • Isn’t it crazy that we all have new names now? Like we’re running from the blog po-po! Lol!

    • I changed my mind too. A convo w/ my friend cracked me up and almost made me do a post about why I need to be asleep at 11:35. Lol!
