Hey, folks. Sorry, I haven’t updated but it’s been one of those months weeks. Seems like everything that could go wrong, DID go wrong for my 1st week back with the kids – from the ENTIRE network going down the Friday before school started until mid-day that Monday. That meant that we began school with no internet connectivity. Most of you don’t even realize how catastrophic that is, seeing as how we attended school in the dark ages , but these days EVERYTHING is powered by the network from schedules to inputting cafeteria info so that students can eat. So yeah, that’s how I began my day one and then culminated my week by slipping and falling in the cafeteria during parent night on Thursday and spraining my ankle….

Since I have a natural flair for dramatics (shut up real life friends), I’ve pretty much tried to downplay everything but the truth is – I want to throw myself on the floor and throw and all out fit. Instead, I figured that the more productive thing to do would be to go ahead and participate in (yeah, I know I’m a week late) Happy Black Woman’s #31DayReset.

One of the 1st tasks was to choose a mantra and a theme song. I’m gonna take it one step further (since I need a MEGA reset) and choose an entire theme for this month on my Vision Wall, which is P!nk’s “F*ckin Perfect”. So first – instead of a song, I chose to add a Playlist (named…you guessed it). Here are a few of the songs I chose and why:

F*ckin’ Perfect

This song and video reminds me so much of myself and what P!nk is trying to tell her audience. I have a couple of friends that downgrade themselves so badly that I want to shake them and say “change the voices in your head, make them LIKE you instead”. I remember when not so very long ago, I was there myself.

Invincible

Pat Benatar is my ORIGINAL “Angry White Bytch” inspiration! I remember when the movie of The Legend of Billie Jean came out, too. This song speaks to my well-behaved women rarely make HERstory heart. “We can’t afford to be innocent! Stand up and face the enemy! It’s a do or die situation! WE WILL BE INVINCIBLE!!!”

I Found Myself

Ciara’s “I Found Myself” is me when you change the 20-something lyrics in the song to 30-something. Always brings tears to my eyes. *sniff*

Money Can’t Buy It

I hate the term “bad bitch” because it’s overused by hoodnuggets. But this is a REAL “bad bitch” anthem – minus the oversexualized, materialistic posturing. Not to mention Annie Lennox and Pat Benatar tie 1st place in my OG Angry White Bytch category. They paved the way for P!nk to rock out in the new millennium. “I believe in the power of creation…I believe in the good vibration…I believe in LOVE alone…yeah, yeah…”

The Men All Pause

You can’t start your day off without believing that you are the flyest creature on the planet – regardless of your circumstances. My LS’s and I used to play this on repeat as we got ready for our parties back in the day. Brings back memories of hella laughter and fun…and a mean azz Naomi Campbell walk into every room. LOL!!

The Big Bang

OK. Whatever you feel about reality “wife” whodikkery television, you can’t tell me that Mafia Wives doesn’t have THE best theme song EVER. “The big big BANG!! The reason I’m ALIVE!“always causes me to automatically stop whatever I’m doing and walk in slow motion mean-mugging. And when it gets to the part where Renee flings her cape across her shoulder?!?!?! #iDie That song goes HARD!

Raise Your Glass

My rawk owt take on the world musical SPIRIT will ALWAYS begin and end with P!nk. She is truly my not-so alter ego. So yeah! Raise Your Glass is SO me with a SWATS all day ‘an day swag.
