Unplugged

“Mark Zuckerberg is a movie villain. In real life. This dude won’t stop til he knows our stream of consciousness. I’m not ok w/ this.”

~@luvvieig

La ver(fuggin)dad! One of my personal goals for 2012 was to eliminate my social networking by 98%. As I mentioned in this post, I’m trying to take it back to the old school cuz I’m an old fool who’s so cool . Last night, I decided to speed up my timeline by going ahead and deleting the FB page under my government name. I thought that I would be at least a tad bit hesitant, but much to my surprise I had absolutely no qualms about saying goodbye to my 800 or so “friends”. I barely spend time on either page and when I noticed how personally intrusive the latest Facebook updates were, I was even more determined to cut my cyber ties.

To my horror, however, my page was unable to be deleted. There is no “delete” option…just a deactivate button. Whenever I enter my username and password again, VOILA!…I’m right back inside The Matrix.  The thing that gave me chills was the ”goodbye” response from FB after I was asked if I was REALLY sure if I wanted to delete my account. I joked w/ my friends about the response reminding me of an abusive boyfriend that plans on stalking and killing you. “You think you’re gonna leave me? Word? I WILL see you again. Believe that.”

It was right after that, that I saw Luvvie’s tweet. Beyond the obvious New World Order mark of the beast similarities (yes…I went THERE… *David Icke shrug*) , I also realized just how creepy it is to have been molded into a society that lurks on people’s pages, wakes up to greet a cyber world before we do the living, breathing BEings in our homes and WILLINGLY allows everything from our habits to our facial features to be tracked and filed away online. Yeah…I’m not OK with that.

I have to be completely candid and admit that I will be keeping my G+ account.  Yes, I know that if we all died and went to hell, we’d find out that Google and Facebook are BOTH run by this guy:

Brewing More Fukkery

However, as someone who doesn’t mind having somewhat of an online presence, but wants to avoid the temptation of oversharing that FB and Twitter provides and appreciates the illusion of privacy…eh.  I figure that G+ is the lesser of two evils.  #punintended And rather than turn into one of those people that complains about every change these companies decide to make with their product *picturing them giggling and  giving away prizes for the company worker that comes up with a new way to infiltrate more fukkery to the masses*, while continuing to use that product - I figure it’s time for me to unplug.

*As an aside, if you haven’t already, check out KaNisa’s “STOP YOUR BITCHING, PEONS!!! *double cheek slap*” post (okay…that’s not really the name but it makes me chuckle imagining her yelling this in her cute lil’ voice *running*).

UPDATE:  KaNisa sent me this link to permanantly delete my FB acct!!!  *chunking deuces*
