One of my FAVORITE people on Twitter used to be @MzStarrBurst or Gummi as she’s affectionately called. I know that people say “It’s only Twitter”, but the psychologist in me says that a person’s online persona (authentic or contrived) can tell a lot about a person. Even for those who embellish (or straight up fabricate) their cyber-personalities , it still tells you who they would LIKE to be, which is always interesting…at least to me.
With the amount of time that a large majority of us spend cultivating our online presence, our status updates, responses and posts can give us a glimpse into our hearts. I always have a fondest for those people who try to make their cyber fingerprint a heart-shaped one.
When Gummi dropped off the face of CyberEarth, I was sad. In the midst of all of the internet chaos, she ALWAYS kept a kind “font”. When #BlackTwitter would run amuck, I could always count on Gummi to pop in making some random, positive statement that always made me smile.
Luckily, I found her on G+ and immediately circled her. \o/ The other day, she asked if anyone else randomly kissed themselves on their shoulders. The next day, I found myself spontaneously doing just that as I dressed for work that morning. *muah muah* I couldn’t help but smile and laugh at my reflection in the mirror. It set the tone for the entire day.
Sometimes, I read certain people’s tweets, status updates and timelines and they are filled with so much venom, not just towards the world but towards themselves. Gummi reminds me that a large part of reflecting JOY out into the Universe and receiving it in return is by remembering that you have to begin by kissing yourSELF…one shoulder at a time. SMOOCHES!!

You are so in your feelings today! I feel the same as you do. There are just some people you see on the interwebs who spew out nothing but venom. It sometimes becomes hard for those of us who wish to give out positive energy into the world. You don’t want them to taint your existence. I wonder what is those people’s story too. What makes you so angry and negative? Do you need a hug?
I was criticized over the summer for being “nice and positive.” When did those things become bad?
REALLY TIA?!?!?! Lol! I find myself trying to figure out the WHY so much that I end up keeping negative people around in my cyberworld just out of curiosity. Those things (nice and positive) aren’t bad at all. Now, being blinded everytime you flash that bright smile of yours I could see being problematic…
I LOVE reading your posts… I hate I can’t comment from work!
