“I DREAM IN TECHNICOLOR”

I’ve always loved that phrase. Not just in the way that people usually interpret it – seeing things clearly, in bright, vivid colors – but because of the process in which the concept was the developed. The stages…the experimentation of adding and subtracting colors, going through phases, finding balance and finally creating a beautiful recreation of something that you never realized that was dull in the first place.

ForNot had a post the other day about how he was noticing a lot of people believing that 2010 was going to be THEIR YEAR. I can’t lie. I was eagerly looking forward to 2010 for many symbolic reasons – the 21 because I’m the BADST (lol), the 10 – which is the day of my birth and the milestone of turning 35. But what’s really been itching in my spirit is that I truly feel as though this is the year that I will finally achieve BALANCE in all areas in my life. People talk about New Year’s resolutions, but I believe more in focusing on themes or pathways. Finding my personal symmetry has been my focus for the past 6 months, but I feel an energy that I can’t describe about this year – that I finally understand the process (similar to the phases of technicolor) that will bring it all together for me.

2009 was a transitional year in my life. On a surface level, I’ve gone thru a lot of physical changes like my hair, my health, commitment to exercise, and food. I’ve embraced a holistic lifestyle that’s definitely been invigorating. Y’all remember Beloved’s Great Vegetable Strike of 2006? LOL! Now I’m in the farmer’s market damn near every other day, trying something new.

More importantly, it’s the spiritual/emotional changes that have been more striking. I feel connected to the elements in a way that I’ve never felt before. Earth, Air, Fire, Water. I’ve become in tune with the environment similar to the way that I think our ancestors used to be. All of my senses seem to constantly tingle. I can distinguish between smells, separate colors, even feel things when they are not actually touching my skin. It’s a remarkable awareness that has me eagerly looking forward to see what 2010 holds in store.
