My Cup Runneth Over

One of the things that I do over on my SoJourner’s Verdad G+  page is occasionally post some of the daily messages that I receive via e-mail from my church, to the people that have me circled.

Today’s posting theme was “I AM PROSPEROUS”.  I added my own disclaimer to the message because whenever someone mentions the word “prosperity” most people think cash, cars and clothes #thanksdrake:

“People always assume that folks who talk about prosperity, are strictly talking about money (thanks to bandwagon ‘prosperity pastors/take that tithe teachers’). That prosperity is only a monetary concept is SO far from the truth.”

~SoJo

Unfortunately, several popular pastors cater to that “spiritually hood rich” concept of prosperity. But the true meaning of living prosperously means overflowing with emotional satisfaction, excellent health, balanced finances, fulfillment in relationships, etc.  A lot of that is also tied directly to the decisions that you make, roads you choose to travel, reactions to circumstances and all of that good stuff.

Choosing to #ExcelIn2012 means opening your mind to the idea of expecting positive overflow in ALL areas of your LIFE.  “Stay thirsty, my friends” is sooooo 2011.    Who wants to walk around dehydrated?  Enjoy and get used to being positively saturated all around.  Don’t be afraid to let it flow!

Eliminate and Concentrate

Back when I had my first blog “Woman, Thou Art Loosed!!!” and wrote under the name Beloved (shout out to my giveaway winners – your books will be mailed on Saturday :-) ), I frequently referenced a book entitled “Disciplines of the Beautiful Woman” by Anne Ortlund.    You may notice that I still use the categories “Disciplined and Beautiful” and “Eliminate and Concentrate” on this blog as I’ve done in the past.

Crunktastic!

Do you guys have a hype phrase that gets you going when you’re feeling sluggish?

In 201o I used:

LIGHTS…CAMERA…ACTION…

Whenever I felt myself starting to slow down, I’d think “Lights!!” -  my head would pop up. “Camera!!” – shoulders back, smile …paparazzi ready. “Action!!” – MOVE.

It reminded me that I was the writer, director and star of the dramatic, romantic, comedic, action flick that I call my LIFE#thisisnotadrill  I need a new hype phrase for 2012, but I’m all out of ideas.  What do you guys use to snap you out of slug mode?

Keep In Touch

Today, I hit up my close girlfriends and asked them at what length of time should I be worried if I haven’t heard from them.  I asked because the disappearance of Stacey English has hit close to home.  In addition to her being an HBCU alumnae and the same age as me, we share many of the same friends.

Holla At A Playa!

At the beginning of every year, I refresh (#F5) my mind, body and spirit by re-reading the works of Florence Scovel Shinn. She is the author of the wildly popular The Game of Life and How to Play It.

I figured since I’ve been blessed, why not pay it forward? So here’s what I’m gonna do. The first 5 people can tell me (via e-mail   ….NOT in the comments) the name that I blogged under before SoJo and how you intend to #ExcelIn2012, I will send you a copy of the book. If you can also include the name of my very FIRST blog, I’ll add a little something extra too. :-)
