For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Psalm 30:5
When I began this blog, it was in the hopes that 2019 would be a much better year than 2018. My mama tells me that the elders always say that the January of a year is a preview of the year to come. My January 2018 was pretty crappy and continued all 12 months, so I almost believe it.
Nevertheless, I sincerely hope that is an old wives tale. My January 2019 has included becoming ill and losing a student. Even with all of my careful planning and restoration preparation, it’s like I cannot escape this grey cloud.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to pen a book of affirmations entitled “joy comes in the morning” that I hope to release this summer. It was supposed to be a play off of morning affirmations, but after re-reading the Psalm 30 in its entirety, it is fitting for me to absorb as a lesson.
At a dedication of David’s new palace, he wanted God to be given the glory instead of him. He began by giving thanks. Thanks for healing and preservation. He gave his testimony (as I look and smile at the tagline of this very blog being entitled Testimony: Volume 43 ?) and reason for praise. It reminds me that even through troubling times – be it one month or one year, my FAVOR is for a lifetime. Even looking back on the past year, I can clearly see where in the midst of it all, my favor superseded everything that I have endured.
So, thank you God. For the reminder. For the favor. For the JOY. It is morning. And so it is.
